What is fear?

Thread: What is fear?

This acronym assists me when I'm facing, feeling or anticipating something I fear:
False Evidence Appearing Real.

I begin my asking myself what I "believe" I am fearing. Is it real - like I'm standing on a cliff slope and the ground is falling away beneath my feet; or a perceived reality based on my anticipation, worries, opinions or past habits. If the fear is based on a perceived reality and I worry or anticipate a negative outcome, then my worry or anticipation is giving the fear more energy, and therefore I am relinquishing my strength and control to the false reality.

When it is a perceived reality, I then use a process where I being to ask myself questions: What is this doing for me? Is this an old habit, attitude or perception. Why do I need this in my life? I believe that how we look at fear is a learned habit. Sometimes we let the fear have the control because the adrenalin rush makes us feelsomething. Sometimes, it stops us from our dreams and therefore gives us an easy excuse. Even in the discomfort, there is sometimes a comfort is the fear, because it is familiar.

So then, the big question I ask myself is: What would be different in my life or my behavior if I didn't have this fear? The more I am willing to hear the truth, the easier it is to see my strength over the FEAR.

It is a learned process for everyone, and I trust you will find the answers and solution that assist you in seeing how much stronger you are than the fear.
