Blessings everyone! We’ve made it to another weekend, and what a week it has been. So many lessons, so much to process, and so much joy and love to receive. Brother Wolf gave us much to think about from the Shaman Wisdom Cards. Today, we are going to hear from the Animal Messages.
Owl – “Seek out deeper knowledge to see through deception. If Owl has glided into your cards, the time has come to seek the hidden as Owl seeks prey beneath the deep, crisp snow. Arcane knowledge, deep within the ageless traditions of white magic, will now reveal itself if you quiet your mind and explore the mysteries beyond; your perceptions will be such that others will be utterly unable to deceive you. Like Owl you will absorb the benign and nourishing and discard the destructive, imbuing your life with intense meaning.”
What must we do in order to see through all the negative, destructive forces in our lives? How can we see what lies beneath? How can we release ourselves from the things in our lives that are causing us harm? These are all questions that Owl helps us to answer. We know that it can see things in flight or from his perch in the tree that most of us can’t. Through dedicated research we could find out why this is exactly, but once we know, how do we put this into practice? How do we focus our intentions and our sights to see beyond the things that we don’t need; the things that will cause us harm or beyond the walls that block our sights?
In stressful times are we able to think clearly? Can we see things as they truly are? Can we surmise what we should do when we are riding a wave of negative thoughts or unfocused intentions? Most people will answer no immediately to tall of these questions. Only through dedicated practice and surrender to the stillness will anyone be able to maintain focus when trying times occur. When we all learn how to still the mind when it starts to stir, we will be able to see the all the forces that are coming at us. We will be able to discern the things we need from the things we don’t. We can understand the things that are malignant and discard them from our lives. We have an understanding of the things we don’t need. This doesn’t happen overnight or with one clear moment.
Picture an owl sitting in a barren tree during winter. He knows that something is under the snow that will help provide nourishment during the cold winter months. He studies the ground beneath closely. Clears his mind and doesn’t allow the thoughts to enter in that would prevent him from obtaining the nourishment that he needs. Once he has gotten a clear, concise target, he strikes with precision. Many of our animal guides teach this very thing. To allow stillness and focus in the mind to obtain what we need and to make our lives have meaning and purpose.
Many of us are still caught up in the loops of not feeling good enough. We don’t feel that our purpose here is very meaningful. We allow ourselves to over think, to listen to the negative, and to prevent ourselves from stepping outside the hurt and into the possibilities that are out there. If you ask yourself, “Why am I here?” Or “What is my purpose in life?” You’ve probably been given reason to time and again from the people around you.
You can break free from that…if you truly want to. You can make up a list of the things you want, you like, or attributes you have. What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? Who in your life supports you? Who in your life puts you down? Who in your life pushes you towards the person you want to be? Who prevents you? If you make this list, be sure to put write down your own name in the column marked “who prevents me.” Yes, we all prevent ourselves from reaching our full potential, from finding our true purpose in life. For whatever reason, you know why this is. Having the courage to be brutally honest with yourself on this point will bring you to a new level of understanding and ridding yourself of the deception. And even self-deception will lie in there somewhere.
This brings up another point. How do we learn to see through deception? How do we stop deceiving ourselves? How do we stop others from deceiving us? We can stop deceiving ourselves by shutting the mind up when it starts to tell us we are no good or we can’t possibly accomplish what we want. If we allow the voice of our mind take over and quiet the voice in our heart, we will never stop our own self-deception. It will continue until we are so broken inside that any attempt to correct it could take more time than we will have allowed ourselves. That might not make sense, but look at family members who have left this world already. Did they have any regrets in their life? Was their suffering quick or drawn out?
Here’s a tough prospect to consider, “If I’m dying, then my life is already over.” Your life is not over until your heart stops beating, there is no breath left in your lungs, and the brain has stopped sending the signals out. While you have all these things, you are still alive. The possibility for a debate over this is high, so be careful how you decide to internalize this. At this point in most of our lives, we are still living in “what if” mode. And there are so many of these that it could cause a tremendous amount of anguish and negativity. Just realize that quality of life is different from living it.
We can wake up from our own deceptiveness. We can stop lying to ourselves and realize that we are good enough. We do have purpose. Our lives do have meaning. It may take some time to get around all the things we carry with us, but once we break through the wall of negativity around us, we’ll begin to see what’s on the other side. And hopefully, want to continue you to tear down the walls, heal, and find your purpose and meaning. Again, it won’t be easy. But the rewards outweigh the lack of doing the work. When you end your own self-deception, you can end others as well. You will no longer need to allow yourself to be controlled or deceived by those who would rather see you not grow. You will be able to push the thoughts and actions of others aside as they try to prevent you from gaining what you need in your journey to purpose. You will realize that no matter what anyone says, your life has meaning.
YOU have meaning! YOU have purpose! YOU are fully capable of seeking the knowledge and digging deep to break free from the deceptions that have controlled your life for so long. As you work this through, you’ll understand was is truly meant here. Fly with Owl. Hunt with Owl. Discern with Owl. He won’t lead you astray. He may throw in a few tricks here and there to test you, but in the end you’ll be able to see through the snow and nourish yourself again.
Je Vous Aime tous!
