Happy Labor Day! For many people it is one final hoorah before school begins. Enjoy your day and make the most of it. We have a wonderful card today from Vision Quest Tarot.

2 of Water – “Love, harmonic convergence of male and female forces, growth – This image represents an openness to the highest for of love and your growing readiness to live that way. These gently joining hands represent two souls touching one another subtly, in perfect harmony. This kind of loving connectedness may but need not find a sexual expression. It is complete in itself. It gives without expecting anything in return and gratefully receives what is given.”

One of the key words should also have been humility. The last couple of statements in the translation of the card signify this beautifully. Life is full of give and take. We should be grateful for what we receive, no matter the gift. Receiving through humility gives you the opportunity to truly appreciate what is given. These could be material gifts, crafted gifts, or inner gifts from the divine. Conversely, when we are giving without the expectation of anything in return, we are giving in the most humble way possible.

An interesting image came to mind while presenting this. The image of a woman who spent most of her life living selfishly and not be appreciative or grateful for what she had been given. She was very selfish with her belongings and gave very little. Then she becomes ill as she is aging and realizes all of a sudden that she may not be able to enter the “pearly gates” she’s heard about so often in church. At this point, she makes a scramble to give as much as she can and be appreciative of as much as she can. This image is all to common in our world. When the tide seems to be against us and we know we haven’t been doing what we should, there is a panic button inside that is pushed. At this point, we begin doing all we can to work our way to a salvation we’ve only heard about.

Truth of the matter is that you are already in salvation. It doesn’t happen after your body stops working. It happens the moment you’ve made the decision to re-establish the connection with the divine and take in all the love that is unconditionally there for you. This love is free, it is always there, and all anyone has to do is just receive it. There are no expectations placed upon you in receiving this. Most would argue that since we receive this love, we are “supposed” to give it out, to share it. If we are truly in the light of unconditional love, we don’t share it because we have to. We share it because we WANT to, because we know that it is so much more than just us and much too strong for us to keep all to ourselves.

Running around at the end of life and trying to make up for all that wasn’t done will do nothing but shorten the life you’re already living. If you’ve learned humility, grace, and the true meaning of give and take, it won’t matter. Love and allow yourself to be loved. Give without expectation. Receive without judgment and with grace. These are the keys that everyone could be looking for when it comes to our lives.

If you are looking for love, chances are you won’t find it. It is much like that item that you place on the kitchen counter, forget that it’s there and look throughout the entire house to find it only to come back after getting completely stressed out and finding that the item was right where you left it. Divine love is very much like this. We all have it within us always in ALL WAYS. All we have to do is open ourselves up to receiving it. And once we’ve done this we can find ourselves sharing with others. You never lose love. It may feel that you have at times, but it is always there. We become attached to those things and people that mean a lot to us, and sometimes life-threateningly so. We know about the phrase, “died from a broken heart.” This is very true. If we allow our love to completely be placed on the life of one person or thing, then our hearts will definitively break and our physical lives will be over.

This is not a way of saying you shouldn’t love someone with all your heart. It is also not trying to thwart any person from holding back how they feel or the connection they create with another human being. Adversely to what was said previously, there are times that we become so connected with another person that our life-forces inner twine with the other. When their life force runs dry, we find ourselves in a similar predicament afterwards. So how do we get out of this paradox of breaking hearts and joined life-forces? We don’t. We simple understand that these are things which happen in life. But looking for this will leave you empty handed more often than not. Wishing for it, daydreaming about it, regretting past breakups, wishing you had done something different, are all things that can actually prevent you from finding your love.

Ask yourself, what do I want? What am I looking for? What type of man/woman would I be most at ease, most comfortable, and most challenged by? What do I need to work on within myself in order to open up to this possibility? Once you have clarity in your mind of who you want by your side, the universe seems to open up and when you least expect it, BOOM! There they are, looking at you. They want more from you than just a sexual fling. They want more from themselves than just being alone. They’ve been holding out for you as well. Hurdles will present themselves at first in most cases. But none are so high that you can’t jump over them.

Let yourself be doused with the love from the Divine. Taking this in will open up the opportunity for you to reconnect with it and also to begin loving yourself to the fullest. In most cases, this is the necessary step we have to take in order to find the “love of our life”. We’ll search in many ways sometimes frantically because we feel that we’ll burst at the seams if we don’t. You’re ready for love. You’re ready to be loved. Let it come to you. Watch the signs that lead you to the place you need to be. Yes, even in finding the right person, the signs are presented to us. We just have to know the difference between feeling it in our hearts or our loins. Yes, many people confuse the difference between heart love and loin attraction. And there are even more that don’t even pay attention to the connection of hearts because they are so completely consumed in the physical.

In the Bible, it says to “love your God with are your heart, with all you soul and all your mind.” If you are not expressing this to another person freely, then you are probably not doing this. Many will say that each and every one of us is an aspect of God, so if we merely love a person for what they can do with us physically, we do not love with completion. Love in all its expression is perfect. If we focus on only one aspect of it, we can begin to lose sight of the fullness it can bring. There is definitely darkness in each of lives that we will forever be facing, but when we let our love light shine, we can find our way out and back on track. We can bring our connections to the Divine to a whole new level that we’ve never reached before. We can walk out of the tunnel of loneliness and apathy. We can finally see the sun rise on the horizon and really feel its magnificence. This reading may seem mushier than usual, but it is about love. And when it comes to love, it can really make a person feel all mushy inside.
