Let Go Of The Old - Bring In The New

We are taught from a young age to have good hygiene; clean body, clean teeth, clean hair and wash hands frequently to ward off germs. As you are physically able; you participate in cleaning the house, the garage, car and yard. Ironically, and to our detriment the majority of parents fail to teach children the most important aspect of one’s life that needs to have daily attention –cleaning one’s inner landscape in mind, body and spirit.

As you clean your garage, house, bedroom or bathroom you come upon things to sort out; things to let go of; things to keep and things that prompt you to wonder, “What prompted me to keep this?” Now you need to add the most important aspect of keeping your life clean and uncluttered – cleaning your inner landscape - mind, body and spirit.

Henry David Thoreau said, “An unexamined life is not worth living.” As you go through your mental and emotional closets remember to let go of what no longer serves you; things that are guilt or shame based; things you have held onto – holding a grudge, sadness, resentment, anger or feeling sorry for yourself.

This is the first moment of the rest of your life; you can examine what needs to be let go of; re-sorting things you want to make important in your life; taking a look at priorities and remembering that it is not about the things you do –it is the energy you expend to do it.

When you clean out the debris, cobwebs and mental drama, ideas will come to you, thus, you will realize you have the capacity of thinking that gives you access to create anything you choose. Physical detox, eating healthy food, exercise and meditation are highly recommended priorities.

What will you choose this moment? You are in a moment right now that you are holding that is yours to craft, shape and mold any way you choose.

Here is to letting go, cleaning and clearing the inner landscape of your mind, body, and spirit. ###

Hi Dorothy

Getting rid of the 'outside' clutter I think helps you to start focusing on what you want and bring into your life. As you continue to clean up and makes changes around you, changes will start to begin on the inside too.

Mathew: Thanks for sharing your thoughts and wisdom. It is a metaphysical and energetic fact that the old needs to be shifted out to allow the new to come in. Two opposing ideologies, beliefs or behaviors can not coexist simultaneously.

I love this, Dorothy! I've always been a 'material' purger , able to easily & regularly get rid of things no longer used, worn or needed. But I struggled with 'emotional' purging, holding onto past pain, resentment & fears.
I've learned to let forgiveness & love wash away all the sediment & debris. ...
