THE APOCRYPHON OF JOHN - STUDY GUIDE - Part 4

A STUDY IN PROGRESS BY ANNE TERRI WITH GOD THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT

For the purposes of study, I Am Advising Anne Terri To bring this forward with My Colors of The Third Testament, with two exceptions. When Jesus speaks of My Ultimate Power, the Aeon, over all aeons, this will be in navy blue text. References to God The Father's Light will be in yellow text.

Within The Apocryphon of John, are many names you may not understand, as well as concepts, of Me, God.

There will be a dictionary specifically for this document. As Anne goes forward, I Will Guide her in understanding. Remember, this document was not placed within The New Testament. It is too intricate.

Their are four surviving Coptic manuscripts of this text: two shorter version found in the Berlin Codex; and Nag Hammadi Codex III, and two longer version, found in Nag Hammadi Codex II and IV. This translation prepared by Dr. Wisse for the Nag Hammadi Library in English uses all four manuscripts to produce a single text.Separate translations of the short and long version, along with extensive additional resources, are available in the Apocryphon of John Collection of the Gnostic Society Library.

1. "And the powers began:
the first one, goodness, created a bone-soul;
and the second, foreknowledge, created a sinew-soul;
the third, divinity, created a flesh-soul;
and the fourth, the lordship, created a marrow-soul;
the fifth, kingdom created a blood-soul;
the sixth, envy, created a skin-soul;
the seventh, understanding, created a hair-soul.

2. And the multitude of the angels attended him and they received from the powers the seven substances of the natural (form) in order to create the proportions of the limbs and the proportion of the rump and the proper working together of each of the parts.

7. "Seven have power over all of these: Michael, Ouriel, Asmenedas, Saphasatoel, Aarmouriam, Richram, Amiorps.
8. And the ones who are in charge over the senses (are) Archendekta;
and he who is in charge over the receptions (is) Deitharbathas;
and he who is in charge over the imagination (is) Oummaa;
and he who is over the composition Aachiaram,
and he who is over the whole impulse Riaramnacho.



ORIGIN OF THE DEMONS

Apocryphon Jn 4:9-13 The origin of the demons ... four: heat, cold wetness and dryness ... the mother ... is matter ... those who reign over them ... and the mother of all of these, Onorthochrasaei

9. "And the origin of the demons which are in the whole body is determined to be four: heat, cold, wetness, and dryness.
10. And the mother of all of them is matter.
11. And he who reigns over the heat (is) Phloxopha;
and he who reigns over the cold is Oroorrothos;
and he who reigns over what is dry (is) Erimacho;
and he who reigns over the wetness (is) Athuro.
12. And the mother of all of these, Onorthochrasaei, stands in their midst, since she is illimitable, and she mixes with all of them.
13. And she is truly matter, for they are nourished by her.


Apocryphon Jn 4:14-22 The four chief demons ... they who belong to them ... pleasure, desire, grief, fear ... the mother, Aesthesis-Ouch-Epi-Ptoe ... and the passions which came forth... useful things as well as evil things ... insight into their true (character) is Anaro, who is the head of the material soul,

14. "The four chief demons are:
Ephememphi, who belongs to pleasure,
Yoko, who belongs to desire,
Nenentophni, who belongs to grief,
Blaomen, who belongs to fear.
15. And the mother of them all is Aesthesis-Ouch-Epi-Ptoe.
16. And from the four demons passions came forth.
17. And from grief (came) envy, jealousy, distress, trouble, pain, callousness, anxiety, mourning, etc.
18. And from pleasure much wickedness arises, and empty pride and similar things.
19. And from desire (comes) anger, wrath, and bitterness, and bitter passion, and unsatedness, and similar things.
20. And from fear (comes) dread, fawning, agony, and shame.
21. All of these are like useful things as well as evil things.
22. But the insight into their true (character) is Anaro, who is the head of the material soul, for it belongs with the seven senses, Ouch-Epi-Ptoe.


Apocryphon Jn 4:23-27 365 angels worked on it ... the natural and the material body was completed ... remaining passions ... written in the book of Zoroaster ... all the angels and demons worked ... their product was completely inactive ...

23. "This is the number of the angels: together they are 365.
24. They all worked on it until, limb for limb, the natural and the material body was completed by them.
25. Now there are other ones in charge over the remaining passions whom I did not mention to you.
26. But if you wish to know them, it is written in the book of Zoroaster.
27. And all the angels and demons worked until they had constructed the natural body.
28. And their product was completely inactive and motionless for a long time.

The whole creation is placed under the guardianship of God as the head, and six Ameshaspends (archangels).Ameshaspends are mystical guardian spirits, who work night and day incessantly for the welfare and protection of the creation committed to their charge by the Almighty.

God is the protector of man.

(1) Bahman is given the custody of all useful domestic animals and birds.

(2) Ardibihist has the control of fire and life-giving heat.

(3) Shahrevar is the president of all kinds of metals and minerals.

(4) Aspandarmat is the custodian of the earth, with injunctions to keep it fruitful, clean, and cultivated.

(5) Khordat has to see to the purity of water and water-courses.

(6) Amerdad tends to trees and vegetation.

With the assistance of Yazats (angels) night and day they police this earth and guard their respective charges against the encroachment of the Evil Spirit (Angro Mainyus).

the fourth is Yao, he has a serpent's face with seven heads;

38. "But Yaltabaoth had a multitude of faces, more than all of them, so that he could put a face before all of them, according to his desire, when he is in the midst of seraphs.

39. He shared his fire with them; therefore he became lord over them.


40. Because of the power of the glory he possessed of his mother's light, he called himself God.

41. And he did not obey the place from which he came.

42. And he united the seven powers in his thought with the authorities which were with him.

43. And when he spoke it happened.

44. And he named each power beginning with the highest:
the first is goodness with the first (authority), Athoth;
the second is foreknowledge with the second one, Eloaio;
and the third is divinity with the third one, Astraphaio);
the fourth is lordship with the fourth one, Yao;

45. And these have a firmament corresponding to each aeon-heaven.

47. And in the names which were given to them by their Originator there was power.

48. But the names which were given them according to the glory which belongs to heaven mean for them destruction and powerlessness.

15. The name of the first one is Athoth, whom the generations call the reaper.

16. The second one is Harmas, who is the eye of envy.

17. The third one is Kalila-Oumbri.

18. The fourth one is Yabel.

19. The fifth one is Adonaiou, who is called Sabaoth.

20. The sixth one is Cain, whom the generations of men call the sun.

21. The seventh is Abel.

22. The eighth is Abrisene.

23. The ninth is Yobel.

24. The tenth is Armoupieel.

25. The eleventh is Melceir-Adonein.

26. The twelfth is Belias, it is he who is over the depth of Hades.

27. And he placed seven kings- each corresponding to the firmaments of heaven - over the seven heavens, and five over the depth of the abyss, that they may reign.
