Is the ATM one of your frequent stops?

Automated Teller Machines make our banking extremely convenient especially for those of us who just can’t seem to make it to the bank during the normal banking hours. This convenience that we’ve come to depend comes with the price of increased risk to our personal safety.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, “Hmmm…I’ve never had a problem at the ATM. What’s the big deal.” If this is true, be very grateful and continue to read not only this article but the rest in this series on ATM safety posted on my website forum. Thieves don’t take a break so arm yourself with some great information that can empower you to live life a little safer, at least when you’re doing your ATM banking.

If I can share only one bit of info with you this is it; assaults at ATM’s occur more often between 7 pm and 4 am. This is normally a down time for traffic to the ATM yet it has the highest frequency of crime. For those of you who like numbers, 60% of all ATM crime occur in this time slot.

Lots of people have found this down time the best time for them to fit a visit to the ATM into their schedule. If this is the case for you, make sure do don’t go alone or at least make sure you have a stun gun along. There’s a 60% chance that you will need to use it!
